Scholarship Committee

SOAR for Justice has established a scholarship committee comprised of experienced attorneys who are dedicated to the mission of the organization. The purpose of the scholarship committee is to advise on the awarding of law school scholarships. Committee members are licensed to practice law in California and they contribute their time to SOAR for Justice on a volunteer basis. 




Sarah Brite Evans

Sarah is a partner at Schwartz Semerdjian and has been practicing law in San Diego since 2000, primarily working on employment law matters. Sarah serves as committee chair of The Lawyers Club, a bar group which aims to advance the status of women in the law and society.  She is the mother of two young boys.

Dovie Yoana King

Dovie has 2 decades of experience assisting low-income workers and immigrants. She is a California native and daughter of immigrants from Mexico and Costa Rica. Dovie is SOAR for Justice's founder and director, and she is licensed to practice law in California and Massachusetts. Dovie currently lives in Boston and works at Harvard Law School's Office of Public Interest Advising.

Daniel Laguna
