SOAR for Justice is dedicated to helping survivors of abuse rise for justice. Its founder and director, Dovie Yoana King, is a public interest lawyer, educator and survivor of domestic violence who personally understands the hardships victims face when escaping abuse. An important part of Dovie's advocacy is helping low-income women and Spanish-speakers in need of domestic violence restraining orders. She is able to draw from her personal life and experience to better serve the needs of family court litigants.

Currently, Dovie works at Harvard Law School and resides with her child in Belmont, Massachusetts, a community that has provided them both sanctuary from violence and a new start in life. Dovie is a member of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Women's Bar Association in Boston. She is a graduate of Northeastern University school of Law and Brown University, and is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, California and formerly in New York (retired).

By establishing SOAR for Justice, Dovie endeavors to work with lawyers, court personnel, educators, schools, community-based organizations, advocates, legislators and law enforcement to give survivors a stronger voice for change.
